77 wonders of Znojmo
A city full of history, towers, churches, monasteries and mighty walls, and boasting just about the largest and most comprehensive collection of Renaissance burgher palaces in the whole of the Czech Republic.
In the past two centuries Znojmo city grew famous for manufacturing pickled gherkins and for growing quality grapevine and fruit.
Today Znojmo represents an attractive tourist destination and is known as a city of history, wine and unspoilt nature. Znojmo is an entrance gate to the Podyji / Thayatal National Park, which stretches along the romantic Dyje / Thaya Valley as far west as the town Vranov nad Dyji (Frain a.d. Thaya), which is a picturesque townlet and a popular summer resort near the river reservoir with the same name(the so called "Moravian Adriatic").
Znojmo is also an important cultural centre and every year several festivals are held here including the Znojmo Classical Music Festival in July, and the famous Znojmo Historical Wine Harvest Festival (Vinobrani) in September. The City Theatre and the South Moravian Museum are places worth visiting all year long.
